Simply movement Information

Before you start the work of ‘simply movement’ here is some important information to read.

Keep your expectations in perspective: ‘Simply movement’ is not a therapy or a competition, not a ‘keep fit’ class where you work out, neither is it a ‘fix me all’ class where miracles happen.
There is no right or wrong in my class: Avoid comparing the class with any other classes you have done in your past. Keep an open mind and use the time to explore, discover and expand your body, mind and spirit!
Take your time: Do not rush any exercise we do. Find your own pace and take your time. Some of the exercises may seem unusual and unfamiliar. The ones you most resist are often the ones you can learn the most from. The changes that happen may be subtle. Relax and trust the process!
Insist on comfort: I want you to enjoy the process of the exercises rather than just focusing on a result. There is no reward for doing any of the exercises in an uncomfortable position. Alter your position, either lying or sitting in whatever way feels right, especially if it hurts. Listen to your body and answer it with gentleness and respect! If you cannot perform the exercise step back, watch how others are doing it, close your eyes and visualise it! When we do couples work, please ask for your partner’s permission for any exercises that requires body contact.
Use your imagination: ‘Simply movement’ exercises stimulate the mind as well as the body by the conscious use of imagination. Therefore allow any exercise to become very clear and lucid in your mind, like a scene from a movie. The more you practice being an observer of your own body and mind, the easier it will be to recall the exercises.
Looking forward: Notice any changes in your body and mind when walking, talking and thinking. Often the learning you do continues even after the workshop has ended. I will provide you with some questions during and after each workshop. These questions can be a journal to record any changes you have observed. I would suggest you take this journal home and make further notes of any changes you notice in your mind and body. Perhaps record your night time dreams.

Many thanks and enjoy the healing process!
